Reviews
Delicious food. Ends up being quite an expensive meal, but tapas always is. Wait staff very friendly and knowledgeable, but were a bit sparse on the night I went. While this lead to a bit of a wait to order and get drinks, the rest of the night played out wonderfully with ample time between courses so that everything was warm when we ate it and we never felt rushed. And as I say, the food was uniformly delicious.
Food 8/10
Overall great flavors and tapas are lovely, but it is pricey for what you get. We ordered the fried shrimp, bone marrow, jamon and fried artichoke, and beef cheeks. Highly recommend the beef cheeks, they were super tender and flavorful. The jamon and fried artichoke were very unique and a fun dish to try. The bone marrow was alright, I think not enough bone marrow and too much red peppers + bread. The shrimp were crunchy, but not a necessary order.
Atmosphere 8/10
Very cute, located in Chelsea. Plenty of seating inside.
Service 5/10
Honestly very slow service, I was a bit disappointed. It took a while for them to notice us and take our order, and also to get our bill.
The small plates to share at New York prices may leave you wanting more, but rest assured, everything we ordered at our table of four was absolutely delicious. Although I don't typically review Spanish restaurants in NYC, Txikito deserves recognition for their incredible creativity in putting a unique twist on traditional dishes, and for using high-quality ingredients. The staff at this restaurant is exceptional in terms of knowledge of the menu and their ability to provide trustworthy recommendations. Also, they understand the importance of allowing guests to savor their meal without feeling rushed, which, as a Spaniard, I highly appreciate. When it comes to their fish dishes, especially the mendreska, you simply can't go wrong. And don't even get me started on their desserts, each one is a treat that you shouldn’t miss.
It's wonderful when you go back to a restaurant that you haven't been to in years and it is as solid as ever! Since I live near La Vara and St Julien in Brooklyn that's where I go and they're great but somehow this original one seems even better.
I can still remember the shrimp dumplings that I had years ago that didn't seem to have the iberico pork in them. The other night they did and they were excellent.
The king oyster mushroom carpaccio is still a beautiful and delightful dish. I love food that inspires me want to make it at home.
I'd had a chicory salad at AbcV the night before that was very out of balance, this one shined. So nicely executed and flavor filled.
Even the simple wax beans were perfect.
My tip is to go early before it gets too busy and noisy.
We'll be back much sooner.
Txikito is a gem of Chelsea. I had dinner here for two, but it was also spacious enough for group dinners. They had absolutely incredible food, it felt like every plate surpassed the previous. The menu is very vegetarian and seafood friendly, but still lots of variety. The service was really great and the food came out very quickly. Would recommend this over and over!
I didn't know that this place has been around for 15 years! I only just heard of them after they reopened post-COVID.
The atmosphere, flickering candles, romantic warm vibes are a dream. A nice spot for an intimate dinner for sure.
The fried artichoke with iberico jamon and runny egg dish was an absolute delight and the best thing I've eaten in recent months for sure. The suckling pig was also perfect. I would skip the skewered mackerel next time, but they have plenty of other lovely interesting appetizers on the menu.
The staff is super attentive and accommodating. I was in a hurry and only had 45 mins to dine and they made sure everything was out in a timely manner and to send me on my way right on schedule.
Wonderful spot, definitely want to return for more!!!
Food is delicious. Love the swordfish belly and the goat cheese peach 🍑 dessert. People are also very friendly. Service is nice 😊
We ordered a bunch of different dishes to share between 2 people for dinner. We had the sausage, peppers, octopus cappacio, shrimp with veggies cooked with miso, and the rice with bunch of seafoods (like a risotto).. overall the food was tasty and with good presentation.. however, we think the sausage was a bit pricey ($9 for 2 tinny skews with only 2 tinny piece of sausages...)..
The overall bill came to be $110.. I think most of the food here have tinny portion.. it is kinda expensive for the price they are charging for this tinny plate of food.. you should definitely get some snacks before or after eating here.. it's not bad but definitely not a everyday dinning spot for us 😅
